This is the perfect song for this post because as a Christian you are sometimes seen as this greater person then others,when you really are not. All I am is someone who loves Jesus and has a relationship with Him and desire to share His words with others. What you need from God, I need. I am no better then anyone else, my sins are just washed by the blood of Jesus.

You are Good

God wants you to know that you are good. That He created you and that you don't need to live in guilt, constantly condemning yourself. Stop listening to the devil when he points out all of your failures.

I had to learn to look past my failures. It's easy to get caught up on what you haven't done correctly and give up. That's what satan wants you to do, to give up God and make you think that it's too hard. It's not too hard. It's only too hard when you make it that way. With God's grace He loves and forgives you. Through Jesus Christ you don't need to beat yourself up anymore.

Is that an excuse to do the wrong thing? No. But God knows your heart. He knows when you try to please Him. When you listen to His voice and speak with Him. In fact, the more you walk in the spirit you no longer desire to do the wrong thing anyway.

End the Race

I wonder when our spirits leave our bodies and we live in paradise with God and Christ will we be able tell what race was each spirit before Jesus called us home. Will there be debates in heaven that one spirit came from a certain race and therefore will have a poor corner of heaven? Or will God have us grouped apart by what bodies we had and what politics we followed and have a different love for the each of us. Ofcourse not!

So why do we act like this here on earth? Especially Christians should know better. So let's all get hung up on who's White and how they act or what they get or who's Black and what they deserve. God sees two kinds of people. Those who are His children and those who He desire to become His children.

Satan wants us to be hung up on the superficial so that we stop blessing others with the word of God. How many times you turned away from someone because of race or politics? When have you walked past a group of people and shook your head at them instead of coming by saying God loves you! Those people may reject you, but continue to pray for them and believe in the power of God.

It's sad to see so many blogs pulling people apart with their heated messages of condemning others. We all make mistakes. If someone wanted to focus on all the mistakes we make and write a blog about it, I bet they could. Let's bring together unity. Unity through Jesus Christ.

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28

My prayer for all of you

Colossians 1:9-12 are great scriptures to pray for others. I use these scriptures to pray for friends, family, strangers, when I'm watching the news. (I'm always provoked to pray when I watch the news.) To me, these scriptures has the essence of everything you should desire for you fellow neighbors. It's also useful when you feel angry because of what someone else believe or how they act or if they treat you in an undesirable manner. Praying this prayer puts the problem with others in God's hands and eases the burden of the debate.

I ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, that you are bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowlege of God, strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. In Jesus Name Amen

Erase The Dividing Line

There are many issues Christians have over non-Christians such as abortion, politics, homosexuality, how to raise your family etc. Most Christians are so bent over proving their issues and snubbing their noses at non-Christians that they forget the ultimate goal of God. He loves all His children and He wants us to come to Him. We can not lead others to Christ by telling someone what they believe is stupid or shaming them for it. What they believe is apart of the sin that is still within them. Which is the same sin that was in you before you became saved. Which is also the same sin you still need to repent for in your walk with Christ. It may not be that specific sin but God sees sin the same so your sin is equal to their sin. "The wages of sin is death" All sin. We need to stop judging and start loving one another. If we lead others to Christ in a loving manner then everything else will come after.

The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. Galatians 5:14-15

Confession is everyday

My husband was raised catholic and he was telling me today how the one thing he did like about it was how he could talk about everything he did wrong (in confession) and not get in trouble for it. It's interesting how he felt that way and yet didn't realize all these years we have been Christian with no denomination that he had his own personal confession. He could confess to the king of kings and not be in trouble. Because of Jesus Christ we are not condemned for our sins. Because of Jesus, it's okay for people to come straight to God and confess their sins. There is no need for a imperfect human mediator. Jesus is the mediator. Jesus can be our mediator because He came to earth as the only perfect person and took on all our sins.

It's easy to forget that when you felt as if you done something terrible. You want to hide and hope God didn't see. But He did see, and if you ask, He will forgive.

Romans 8
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

Get a Life

The phrase "Get a Life" is used to be hurtful to someone who doesn't do the things of the world. The person who is home on the weekends instead of out partying, the person who is not boozing, cursing or what the world calls "having fun" But those who give up their life receives a much better one in return. Jesus said, " everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."(matthew 19:29-30) I don't believe Jesus means to forsake your family but He is saying those who put Him first in their life will have so much more meaning and blessing in their lives. Jesus also talks about the opposite of "getting a life" in matthew 10:39 "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." As a Christian we need to learn to reach for what God wants us to do first in our relationships, money, family etc.

So how do we do this? It seems so hard to reject what is going on around us. But actually it is very simple. "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature."(Galatians 5:16) When you live by the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith the strong desires of sin, the sin you struggle with, will begin to disappear. It will no longer be a battle. When you have love pouring out of you, you won't be able to help changing your life for Christ.

Following Jesus/MLK DAY

I know I am behind but I wanted to blog about Martin Luther King Jr. His birthday just passed and I was thinking about all the things he did to change the world. Martin Luther King is a respected and revered man all because he simply followed the words of Jesus. He was the epitome of WWJD (what would Jesus do) From his spiritually motivated speeches to his non-violent approach He followed the words of the king of kings and changed the world. So simply put we can all change the world in some way by reading the Bible and following the commandments of God, and His son Jesus Christ. Amen!

1 Peter 2:21+23 "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly."

Attacked on Every Side

I have been attacked every since I started this magazine. It is complete but because of constant technical difficulty and financial difficulty it will have to be put on hold. I was promised a certain amount of money and I never received it . Also the money I did have set aside was stolen from someone I thought I could trust. Am I crying about this? Am I screaming and yelling why? No. I am holding on to my faith that God is a good God and He will come through on His plan. His time is the right time and all I have to do is wait on Him. I praise God now and thank HIm for what is going to do with Beyond It All Magazine. It will touch millions of teens lives and bring them to the love of Jesus Christ. This magazine will be successful and will glorify God. I am not afraid.

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body" 2nd corinthinas 4:8-10

The Miners

I had to repent for my stubborness this morning. I didn't want to blog about the tragic mining story. What was I going to write? was what I asked God after the third or fourth time it was put on my heart to blog about The Miners who were trapped and then killed in the mines of West Virginia. After seeing so many pray for the miners the tragic ending is baffling. But after persistence I let go and allow God to give me the words to write.

We should all pray for the comfort of those people and that they have faith that their tragedy will be used. God always has a plan and it's good. In 2nd Corinthians 1:3-7 it says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort."

Suffering is sometimes something a believer can not avoid. But we can always trust that if we keep out faith that our lives are enriched by our pain and that God will bring us through and use us to glorify the kingdom.

Staying in 2nd Corinthians let's also focus on the passage in chapter 6:4-10, "Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; thinhaving nothing, and yet possessing everything."

As we can see the scripture above states a long list of tragic things that can happen and test our faith and love of God. Instead of questioning why things happen, pray that those suffering will be used and continually blessed.

The Christians Contradiction

So many of us as Christians contradict ourselves. We believe God is capable to do all things and that He loves us and yet we doubt when receive the bills or we turn away from what we truly desire to do because it won't bring in enough money. Most of our goals in life our money oriented. We see that the world requires money so we spend our lives trying to acquire more of it. We complain when the government don't give us enough or make us pay too much. If we truly believe that God loves us and desires the best for us why are we so obsessed?

So you say, C'mon not worry about getting money? There are too many things I need, That's just impossible. Luke 18:27 says that "things which are impossible with men are possible with God." So why can't we believe in awesome things when we have an awesome God? Why is it so hard to believe that if we truly seek Him he will gi ve us the desires of our heart" (Psalm 37:4)

As most of you know, I am a mother of four, I am also young. Me and my husband had to live off of faith many times. We had to truly believe God's word, "be content with such things as you have, I will never leave the nor forsake thee," (Hebrews 13:5.) even if it meant that we had to be happy with our small rabbit ear television and our tiny apartment. I can't tell you how many times money would just appear. Once someone jsut came and dropped off 500.00 in an envelope before with just our names on the front. Now I am a college graduate and we live in a large home. I refused to worry myself grey over money and how we were going to get taken care of. Not that I never worried, and I believe the times I did lose faith were the times that we struggled the most until I remembered to reach back toward God again. Thank God He never turned away.

Now I'm not saying to never work or that it's wrong to desire to gain. But when you do make sure you do it for the Lord. Seek his guide and counsel. Make sure what you do pleases Him and do good works for others. It says in 1 Timouthy 6:17-19,
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is eternal."

Happy Birthday Jesus!

I want to take this blog to wish Jesus a Happy Birthday and I hope you all do too. Wish Him a happy birthday by witnessing to your worst enemy or someone you don't particularly like. Wish Him a happy birthday by trying your best to change a bad habit just to please Him and His Father more. Wish Him a happy birthday by not fighting, being sarcastic or cynical. Wish Him a happy birthday by tolerating your family members. Wish Him a happy birthday by exercising your faith that He will take care of you instead of worrying about money or gifts and exercising your faith that the unbelievers in this world will eventually bow and worship His name! Wish Him a Happy Birthday by praying, and praising His name! Glory be to God!

Two Gods?

The biggest division amongst Christians seemed to be the punishment factor of God. In the Bible there seemed to be two different Gods. One, a punishing vengeful God who strikes down those who turn from Him and the forgiving, always loving God who sent His son Jesus to die for the sinner. Out of this came two kinds of Christians, the condemning Christian who feels anyone who leads a life of sin should be reprimanded and deeply punished and the kind Christian who teaches others to welcome sinners with open arms.

There is only one Great God who does love us as a Father, but will punish us like a loving father would punish His wayward children. But I believe that the decisions of people's punishments should be left up to God. I'm thinking of the story of Paul. Paul killed many people just because they were Christian. If it was decided that he was to be put to death then God wouldn't have had His chance to change Paul they way he had. He struck Paul with a blinding light (literally blinding) and told him that He was real and the He was persecuting Him. After God forgave Paul, He didn't put Paul to death but put him to use. Paul was given the ability to teach, heal and cast out demons! Paul is one of the profits in the Bible who we still learn from today. This is an awesome thought that many condemning Christians don't think about!

So what is my point? I believe that people should not condemn one another but leave the decision of punishment or redemption up to God. Also, even if someone is put to death, if they accept Jesus Christ and truly desire Him in their heart, they will go to heaven no matter how bad a crime they committed.

No Big Deal

Everyone's all abuzz about the recent backlash against Christmas. Certian politicians are telling people to say Happy Holidays and to take Christian elements out of a holday that was meant for Jesus Christ. I think as Christians instead of fighting about it and telling people that it's our way or the highway, we should be sharing the love of Christ EVEN MORE by loving each other. No one can close our mouths. So go out and tell people Jesus loves them! Don't let anyone spoil this season by causing anger and strife. I believe that is exactly what Satan wants. He is not trying to stop Christmas from non-believers, he is trying to distract Christians from sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Don't let a few opinions, stop you!

Destiny?

The question of destiny. That's what came up when I was speaking with my sister. So many believe the way she does. That our lives are already set and there's nothing you can do about changing it. What does God say? Does He have our lives already planned out, or do we have control?

In Romans 8:29-30 it says, ^"For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified."

I believe this to mean that before we were born God had a destiny for us to be like Jesus and that He has a plan for each one of us in our lives.

However, it also says in Philippians 3:18-20, "For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. "

I believe this to say that people do have the choice to not believe and to turn away from God and change their destiny to destroy themselves.

So, is my sister and so many others right about destiny? Can we party hard since we are all going to die anyway? No. God has given each one of us a choice of paths in life. It's that proverbial "fork in the road" in front of us all the time. We can choose His way which leads to blessings and peace and the fulfillment of His calling on our lives or we can turn away and make things hopeless and hard for ourselves. Don't get me wrong, you will make mistakes as you travel the right path toward God but His forgiveness and love is there for you. Just don't give up and allow the devil to make you feel like you are meant to be a sinner.
We are all destined to be loved by God.

Everyone's Dirty Little Secrets

I was watching the Today show and there was a segment about a man who asked for people to send him their secrets. He received thousands of secrets on postcards and in letters just from that simple request. He put the secrets on his website which received thousands of hits. He has a book published from the secrets and there was even a song spawned from it. I was wondering why so many people felt the need to share their secrets with a total stranger. Were they bound up with them and glad to let them go? The anchor on the show said that everyone has a dirty little secret. I disagree, no one does. Because God knows. You can't hide from God. He knows what you done, He knows all of your shame, hurt and guilt. He wants to take all of those secrets and not make money off of them but eliminate them. His love for you is so strong that He sent His son to die and take on all of your sins. Yes, all those dirty secrets that you may feel that you have locked inside preventing you from leading a happy and fulfilling life. You don't have to be condemned anymore!

"He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him" Daniel 2:22

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

Sorry I've been away!

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry there hasn't been an entry in awhile besides the fact that I have been on vacation and busy with a few projects I also have been having problems with my computer. I couldn't load certain pages on my computer such as the blogger site! Now that's resolved, I should be blogging more often.

Old and New all for You

I found that there are many Christians who disregard the Old Testament. They say that the New Testament is the important part because that's where Jesus came to set everyone straight. I disagree. I believe that God wants us to take in account the whole Bible. The first laws and the first people of God are important to know. We all know that Jesus quoted the old testament in His teaching and when He was being tempted. So that means He found all the words of God in the Bible important. In fact, He felt that was how we should live. In Matthew 4:4 He says, "It is written, man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." The Old Testament is made up of the words that proceeded from the mouth of God!

However, I also believe that God has changed the way His people used to live. By sacrificing His son, he made things less complicated to be with Him. In the Old Testament, His people had to sacrifice animals to make atonement, we no longer have to do that. In the Old Testament they had to live strictly to every law and found that they couldn't because man was made imperfect through the sins of Adam and Eve. The demands to live out every law perfectly is gone. You will no longer go to Hell if you sin, if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. There are also religions who do the opposite. They put too much emphasis on the Old Testament laws and make people feel too inadequate for God. They tell people that they are condemned until they live a life of solitude. Obedience is the result of being saved not the basis on which we are saved. Once we accept Christ, His love in us will cause us to become obedient to His word and Laws. If we try to do everything in the Bible perfectly without Him in our lives, we will fail and then become discouraged. That discouragement is what causes many Christians to turn astray.

Turn Off The Stereo

How many of us look at the certain way some one dresses, talks, walks or their race, family, religion and judge? Before you say, "no definitely not me" think about all those times you assumed negatively about someone. What did you base that assumption on? Your eyes. It had to be your eyes because you don't truly know that person. Know one truly knows anyone like God knows us and yet He loves us despite it all. He sees us all as His children and desires for all of us to be with Him. Does God look at someone and say, "He is a thug so that means He has no hope and therefore I won't bless him." No, Thank Him that he doesn't! Does He look at people who come over to America from other countries and say, Go back where you came from you don't belong to blessed America? No way! He loves the whole world! He sees people sins in other countries the same way He sees the sins of people in America. He sees His children fallen away from Him. He sees His children that He sent His perfect son to die for. He sees the ones He desires to bless, and help and teach. The time we spend judging because of someone's differences, the time we spend arguing because of someone's politics, we could be leading them to Christ. No one knows when Jesus will come back. Wouldn't it be better to lead immigrants to Christ, then shake your head and complain about them being in America? Wouldn't it be better to save someone who feels like life is hopeless then tell them that they ought to be ashamed for being a democrat, or republican or whatever?

How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures (Psalm 104:24)

Therefore as by the offence of one judgement came upon all men(mankind) to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One (Jesus) the free gift came upon all men to justification of life. Romans 5:18

I was checking my site statistics (http://www.sitemeter.com) and it said that I have had over 1000 visitors! That's not too shabby for a blog that's been out for only 6 months! I thank God for being with me and blessing me through my keyboard. I know my blog isn't the most edited in the world, but that is because I get an idea from the Holy Spirit in the middle of whatever I'm doing and I just type it up. Praise Session

I just want to take this blog and give God the glory and praise He is due. I am so humbled by all my blessings right now. Obedience is the key. Not questions. Lately, I have been giving my problems completely to God. Which has been hard for me because I am the type that has to always have a back up plan. Praise be to God that He has shown me the right way. I completely let go. I no longer wonder, if I give this amount away, how will I get my bills paid? I no longer wonder, if I take on this large project Lord how will things come together? Instead I say thank you God for this opportunity. Thank you Lord that you have blessed me without me having to do a thing but believe. My family needed a new stove. I prayed to God for it. I gave to church my tithe when I could've been saving. But I believe in what the Bible says. Over the course of a few weeks, I was given a new stove, new furniture, new clothes and coats for my kids, new microwave, lamps, blankets and bunkbeds! Believe me when I say, this woman came to me and my husband and asked us to write a list of things we needed. I didn't indicate that I needed anything to anyone but the Lord and neither did my husband. I know now never to worry whether me or my family will be taken care of. If I truly believe the love God has for us I will not doubt again. Hallelujah!

He is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to His works in us! (Ephesians 3:20-21)

Hate your job?

Did you know that God cares about your job performance? I was thinking about this while working my new job as an admissions advisor. I am currently in the works of starting my own magazine and has become very preoccupied with that. I have been letting things lapse a bit while taking care of other business. This job isn't my dream, this isn't exactly where I want to be right now so I guess I don't have to really worry about it too much, right? Then the scripture Colossians 3:23-24 came to me during one of my personal Bible studies. "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for me, since you know that you will receive an inheritance form the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." If I let this job, I was blessed with after being out of work for such a long time, lapse then why would God trust me with anything bigger or better? If you hate what you do, change your attitude. When you stop complaining and hating, you open yourself up for God to do His works in your life. Praise God for those long hours. Thank God for that small paycheck. Put your all into it and God will bless you with something better. He will make a way for you. Genesis 21:22 says that "God is with you in everything that you do." So pray before you do that report. Or praise when filling that shipment order. Whatever you do allow God to establish the work of your hands. (Psalm 90:17)

Pray it off

Really quick, I was blog surfing and noticed many bloggers get really disturbed by comments. why? I have had the worst thrown at me for my viewpoints (well, not on this blog so far) and I have no problem. I think it's because I have the ability to let things go easily. As the young kids say these days, "shake it off" If it's something that effects me at all, I pray about it. I ask God to open their heart and mine. Sometimes God shows me that He was using them to open my eyes on something. So my readers, feel free to disagree. If I need to clarify I will. If not, no problem, I'll pray.

For those who don't know, the above is lyrics from CeCe Winans, a gospel singer's, Alabaster box. I was thinking about this song while listening to it the other day and thought how true it is. That people don't know what other Christians have been through and how much God has forgiven them. We tend to look at others and see what they are doing wrong or has done wrong and then criticize when they speak of the love they have for God or that they go to church. Hypocrites! we may think and shake our heads silently glad we aren't like them. But actually we are. Jesus died for our sins as well as theirs. God sees all sins as the same. He doesn't see one sin worst then the other. Sin equals death.(Ezekial 18:4, Romans 6:23) Jesus is the way from that death, plain and simple. But some religious people want to make it more complicated then that. They want people to be condemned and jump through hoops to become saved. It just doesn't seem fair, right? Who cares what seems fair to you. God is in charge. He controls what goes on. He says who deserves punishment and who doesn't. David cheated with Bathsheba, He murdered her husband. He then asked for forgiveness but the child that Bathsheba was carrying died. And despite his grief David praised God. and God in turn blessed them with a child that grew to be one of the wisest people in the Bible.(2nd Samuel 11 and 12:1-24) We can help each other as Christians and pray for them but we are not called to judge. Remember what God has commanded you, Love Him with everything and love each other.

Am I naive?

Some would say that I am naive to expect people to look pass others faults and simply love them. That I sound like a child when I insist that people not focus on politics or what ones political beliefs are but on their love for Jesus Christ. Even some shake their heads when I mention letting your problems and the world problems go and simply pray and believe that God will take care of it all.

I think this is exactly what Christ meant in Matthew 18:3-4, when He asks us to become like little children to receive the kingdom of Heaven. He continues to teach that if we must humble ourselves like little children. I believe most adults think too much. We try to add to scripture and reason with our lives. We try to explain away why we must worry and scream and be stressed out when we come to problems in our lives. I look at my children and see exactly what Christ meant. They blindly obey me. What I teach them now they know as truth and they don't question me. That is how God desires us to be with Him! He wants us to not question when he tells us to tithe before we pay the bills. He wants us not to shake our heads and reason with Him when He asks us to love someone who has different beliefs then us. God controls this world and He has plans. He has blessings for all of us. But to receive these blessings, to receive the kingdom we must train ourselves to become His children.

So, if thinking like a child of God is naive then that's fine with me.

Morning Epiphany

God had really opened my eyes to something this morning. It hit me like a brick in the face.

Lately I have been having problems with my husband and our communication. Toward me he has been really bitter and coldhearted. I have been wondering, why has he been acting like this? He no longer acts the way he used to; sweet kisses for no reason, going out of his way to do things for me, saying "I love you" out of the blue. I have been praying about this and trying not to let it anger me, even though it has.

And then this morning while riding to work, I was spiritually grabbed until my eyes were shaken open. I realized how hurtful I am with my words. Whenever I am angry, and me and my husband fight, I would allow myself to get into the flesh and say the most hurtful things. Later I would repent to God and apologize to my husband, but I realized that that wasn't good enough that my words have had a lasting effect. I realized the worst of our problems began after we had got into the most awful fight. We made up, but I believe that the things I said are still with him.

All I can do now is pray that my husband is healed from it. We as women tend to blame our husbands for our marriages going sour but we have to realize that sometimes it's us . We need to look at ourselves and ask, what have we done and what can we do to go about things differently in our marriage? I praise God for this insight. I can't wait to go home tonight and tell my husband all about this. I know that no amount of words can make up for the hurt I caused but I can ask God to change me.

All About Lyfe

I recently came across an intriguing article about Lyfe Jennings, an R&B singer.(Sister 2 Sister 10/2005) He was sent to an adult prison at the age of 15 for 10 years and still managed to have faith and make the best out of his life.

In the interivew, he spoke about how he finished high school and college in prison and didn't give up on his life. While in the prison yard of Richland, Mansfield, he would sing with some inmates and gained attention from the warden. The warden asked him to do shows for the inmates and in turn gained attention from the NAACP. He spoke about how he prayed for guidance in his singing career and in prison. With no doubt God answered him. Lyfe continued to move up in his dream of becoming a singer when a tape of one of his performances at the prison made it to the Apollo, a well-known and historic talent show. Once paroled, He gained a music contract and produced a successful cd titled Lyfe 268-192. I have not heard his cd but, according to Sister 2 Sister magazine, he is being compared to late greats such as Sam Cooke and Al Green. He is also in the process of educating children about making good choices in life through a children's book series.

This article made me feel good that the hopeless prison stories that we often hear on the media about guys in prison who rape, shank, maime, kill and never become a productive member of society are not always true. Lyfe never tells what he did to get into prison for most of his youth but it doesn't matter because God doesn't see what he has done but what he is doing to receive His blessings.

Happy That the Quiver is Full

My regular readers should know that I am a proud mother of four. When people ask me how many children I have I proudly brag about my two boys and two girls. But I don't usually get the equal pride. I usually get the sob face and the poor you look in their eyes. " Me and my husband are waiting until we are financially ready." I would get in response or "Children are such a big responsibility." It says in the Bible, "Children are an heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of the mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed." Psalm 127:3-5. I believe that once God unites a man and a woman he expects children to follow. He doesn't want you to show your lack of faith by saying that you won't have children until you are financially ready. Money problems will always come and go, but if you follow the word of God you and your children shall be blessed. In the beginning God ordered Adam and Eve to be "fruitful and multiply." He said this without any conditions. I am not ashamed of my children, they are living, breathing blessings that I will never regret.

Christians Don't Need Coffee

That energy lift. That's what many of us desire as we begin our rat race every morning. We run to things such as coffee, or energy bars, hey anything with caffeine right? I know how it is, sometimes I find myself doing it too. But have you ever thought of trying God? We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us right? So why are we looking for strength to get through our day with other things? Try praying, reciting scripture, praising God for any and everything. You can receive a lift and you won't believe how much that will carry you successfully through the day. The wisest and healthiest way to tackle your day is picking up a cup of God.

The Inevitably Insignificant Actions(poem)

I am so angry

The "Look" of a Christian

I remember the first time me and my husband were attending different churches to find a church home. One Sunday, we tried a large traditional church and stood out like eye soars. My husband with his large afro, pierced hooped ears and large tatooed arms, me in my summer dress showing off my name in quotes permanently written on my shoulder, holding an infant and two more toddlers trailing behind me. We were a typical family, we read to our children, prayed together and love God but it didn't look that way to others. We were already saved but were approached by many to receive salvation"the proper way."

Even to this day people don't assume that I am a person who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is it that I don't wear floor length dresses and keep a Bible in my arms at all times? Could it be that I don't quote scripture in every conversation? We as Christians need to stop adding quota to people who are trying hard to have a relationship with Christ. That's how you scare others away. I believe that doing the right things shoudn't be forced. Christ will speak to you and tell you what needs changing in your life, and if you truly love Him you will. It's not making a list of how to be the perfect Christian and then condemning yourself if you haven't done it all. (Or condemning others if you see them making mistakes.) Remember the scriptures in the Bible about the woman committing adultery? Jesus could've easily condemned her but instead he told those who wanted to punish her to check themselves first, and then he freed her.(John 8:3-11) Try this, instead of shaking your heads at someone, tell them something that will uplift them or help them. Relate to them your uphill battle as a Christian. That's what loving our brothers and sisters is all about.

Out With the Old...

You know what's funny? Most of my friends and family don't even know my blog exists. Here I am revealing what God has done for me and helping perfect strangers and no one who knows me has the faintest clue. I think it's hard for me to reveal to them what I know, because they knew me when I was wild and clueless about life. Most of them do know that I am Christian but that's really the extent of it. Sometimes I don't like to come out and tell them what I have learned because they would see it as me "preaching" and begin their distance. I sometimes give my opinion on things they may bring up but I don't debate as much. I pray that God reveals Himself to them when it's time. 2nd Corinthians 5:17 says in Christ we are new creatures. How we were in the past shouldn't matter to you or anyone else. I should respect others and at the same time expect them to know and respect the new me.

Because of Jesus' family and the people's unbelief and relying on His the past, Jesus was dishonored."When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked. "Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, 'Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.' (Matthew 13:53-57 ) Although Jesus never had a wild past and was perfect people still doubted in His hometown because they knew His family and possibly seen Him as a child.

I hope those out there reading this learn from my mistake and don't judge other people who you used to know as wild and crazy. Believe in their relationship with Christ and allow them to help you strengthen your own.

No Comment

As you can see, I don't receive many comments on my blog. My visitors are also few and far in between. But do that upset me, do I feel like giving up on my blog because of it? No way! I am so blessed by the little comments I do get. From a woman saying that I helped her realize a fear she needs to get over, to a more recent person who was lead to repentance, I am so blessed by it all! I see my blog as an avenue for God's use. Whoever He sends here to learn what He has taught me through the Holy Spirit is all I need. I don't care if I ever get noticed or rich because what I do is not for my glory but for His. Sometimes I would think about my poetry and stories that I write and wonder, what would I do if I my writing doesn't get noticed or published until after I die? Would that be a bad thing? God's timing is perfect. He has a use for everyone and when He is ready to use you, He will. So, to all those who feel unnoticed as they volunteer for many hours for their church, or are frustrated because they haven't received their rightful recognition for donations they have given, just remember the most important thing is giving to the kingdom of God for His glory.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1st Corinthians 10:31

Blessed News

I have been blessed with work! I won't be working in journalism but instead will be an admissions advisor for CTU online. It pays well and I thank God for what He has given me. I see it as Him trusting me with a little before He goes on to take me to bigger things. That's why I will make sure to tithe every check first before anything else. To let Him know that I believe His word and I trust Him to bless me instead of trusting the money. When you hold on to your money saying that you need it or else you won't get this or that, then you are blatantly telling God that you don't believe He has worked in your life but the money has. That you need money instead of Him. I had to repent from that; when I was working a minimum wage job I was holding on to my money and whatever left over I would give to God. That brought me and my family constant struggles because I had no faith. Then about 9 months ago I got a job as a clerk in a store. I made sure to take that little check and tithe it no matter what. After tithing, I may have had 30.00 left in my check but I would confess that God will take care of the rest. and He did. Praise God for this job and praise God I believe in His promises that if I tithe I will be blessed beyond all that I can imagine.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10

Opposites Attract

Okay, Okay, I took an extended labor day vacation. I broke away from my kids and family life and spent some time out. I immensely enjoyed my break and on top of that I learned a few things and as a good blogger I'm going to share them with you.

The concept of "opposites attract" doesn't always have to mean a romantic relationship. I realized this when hanging out with my two best friends. (separately) My first friend is single, smart strong, works as an engineer, drives a large truck and against anything marriage or family at a young age. She shakes her head at the times when I am frustrated with my husband and kids. She doesn't believe that a woman should marry unless the perfect man comes along (and I mean perrrrfect!) She also doesn't believe the parts in the Bible about the woman being subject to the man. ("Those scriptures are old and outdated!" She shouts. Just after criticizing me for having a tattoo and "defiling my temple.") I love her to death and she is one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. But we obviously are opposites. My second best friend is in a common law marriage with her 3 daughter's father. She lives in the same place we lived since we were in the fourth grade together. She thinks that it is "impossible for her to move up since she doesn't have a good man like me" and she believes that is the only reason I was able to accomplish what I have so far. She loves her family and children but feels like she is trapped in her situation. She is also a sweety and I love her to death. I pray for her all the time. I pray for both of them. I used to get angry when they would disagree with me but now I've realized I have said how I feel and their life is up to them. It's not up to you to change someone it's up to God. I am sure I am a mess in many ways to them too. And as God is still teaching and leading me, I believe He will teach and lead them.

The Impact of Repetition

I have mentioned this and blogged this many times. This is something so known and simple, yet not grasped. Love. The greatest commandment is love. We are to love God with everything and we are to love everyone else. Simply said by the apostles, by Jesus Christ, and by God. If God commanded us to love wouldn't doing the opposite be out of His commands? Why would anyone justify hate anyway? Let's say you have the option to hate someone for whatever reason, why would you do it? Would that change anything or any situation? So you say, you don't hate but you are just angry. Anger doesn't solve anything or bring about change either. It says in Proverbs 27:4 "Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger." I am not saying I don't get angry and that if someone gets angry they go to hell, but it's hard to live in happiness when you wallow in anger. When you are always angry with people, you open yourself to do and think in the way of the flesh. Galatians 5: 18-20 says "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, anger, strife, seditions, heresies." We are to stay away from the things of the flesh to have peace in our lives. It says in Galatians 5:17 "For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another." It's much better and easier to see someone who angers you, to pray for them and hope that they come to know Christ or to know Him better. Your first thought would be that that would be too hard but actually once you get started praying and loving it makes your life so much better and peaceful.

Christians, if you are struggling with anger( or anything) and someone points it out to you, don't allow it to hurt you or make you bitter, instead embrace it. You are the clay and God is the artist. Allow Him to push and pull to make changes in your life so that you can grow. Open yourself up to the truth.

In the Morning part2

I wanted to add a few more promises that God has made to all of us when in tragedy. You maybe wondering, "Okay, Telika we understand but this is a major crisis and all we should do is have faith and pray? " Yes! If you truly believe the immense power of God you should believe He is able to change things and help. Stop relying on people and rely on Him! I believe that God created the world in six days because that's what He said in His living word. If He can do that he most certainly can aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

1 Peter 5: 10, "After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you."

Romans 5: 3-5 "Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

I know I am not blogging the usual things in the wake of this tragedy. I am not shouting at the government or yelling in despair. I am not doing these things because I know that this is God's way to bring more people into faith. There have been so many people who have stopped believing and started relying on other things. This is the time to change.

In the Morning...

I pray that the victims of Hurricane Katrina see the light and the hope and faith of God and to learn to trust Him in their struggles. I pray they take the opportunity to receive the message that God has a blessing for the people afflicted with this tragedy. I see this as His way to bring these people to growth to teach them to believe and see that He has something so much better planned for them. It says in Psalm 30:5 "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." God has joy waiting for them and these people need to see it and believe it and hold on to it. I could refer you to the red cross phone and the salvation phone and urge all to open their pockets but what's most important that you would open you hearts and minds and pray that they do the same. God will take care of the rest.

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed."

(2nd Corinthians 4:8-9)

The Truth

The Bible is the ultimate source in which a Christian has the answers to every question in life. It's too bad that the Holy Bible is seen as boring and treated as such by many people. Your flesh does not want you to see the Bible for what it is, God manifested into your hands. The Bible is His words directed to you. It's an amazingly awesome opportunity that many have but don't use. How many of you have your Bible as a decorative piece in your home to let people know you are a "good person" but don't open it and find out that being good is not what will lead you to heaven. How many of you bring it to church, highlight a scripture or two, close it up never to think about what that message could've meant to you in your life?

I was in a debate with someone who believed that the Bible was just words of men and good advice but nothing else. Sure, men wrote these words but they came from the Holy Spirit. They came from God speaking through these men. These men weren't perfect but God's words are and they were manifested into the Bible. In fact, John 1:1 states that before there was a me or you there was the Word of God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." And when the disciple John was given his vision by God, He was told specifically by Him to make an account of it. " He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then he said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'" (Revelation 21:5)

If you feel you have been slacking off from truly grasping the joyous opportunities of the Bible, don't condemn yourself, that's not what gets you into heaven it's Jesus. But if you would like to hear the words of God spoken to you for your life and you would like to know how to go about conquering problems in your life, don't turn to some self-help manual or psycho-babble, turn to God. He has all the answers for you and you had them with you the whole time.

Honorable hustling?

In todays world it's hard to find someone who use their talents to cultivate their culture, race, country or world. And the ones that do are most often the ones ignored. I was shocked to see the article about Jay-Z (Hard Knock Life and Honorable Hustling by John Balz section 2 perspective.) not just because of the glorification of "hustling" but the way it and Black culture is being misrepresented. Although the rap artist, Jay-Z does deserve recognition for leaving his drug dealing life and turning hip-hop into an enterprise, where are the stories about the talented musicians that rap, sing and play about the positive? The ones that don't commend drugs and prostitutiion but teach others to rise above, hold on to faith and to put the gun down? To me, honorable hustlers are the ones who take the risk to speak out against the sins of this world. The ones that make their money adding to the welfare of their society. It's about time more talented African-Americans stop being the comedic vaudeville show for others to watch, point, laugh then leave to their "homes of White priviledge," (As Mr. Balz so eloquently put it.) while degrading the minds and the views of their own people.

I am on the lead

What are we doing with ourselves? God is sending you a tip for you to lead up on. He is sending you certain trials and tribulations to get you ready for what he wants you to do. He is preparing you for your special niche in His kingdom. He wants you to glorify Him with the talents that He has given you. Have you noticed? Are you following the lead or are you too preoccupied by money or gaining possessions? Or are you too busy being angry with your neighbors over politics to notice that one person who has a message for you? Or that one person God has sent your way to help and bless? Do you see the path or have your turned yourself blind to it? Do you see the path but are too afraid to follow it? It ends in riches and glory. It ends in immeasurable blessings. Have faith, use the word of God, listen to the Holy spirits voice, the pastor at church or that nagging feeling you have deep down inside. Follow God's lead.

Prayers

As we focus so much on praying for ourselves many of us forget to pray for others.
Let's pray for:
The missionaries that they are blessed as they save God's children all over the world
The soldiers that they are safe and they come closer in their walks with Christ (or begin one)
The government that they base their decisions on the Word of God
Our Neighbors that they are blessed and enriched by God
Our Church that it runs smoothly, be taken care of financially and be overwhelmed with members volunteering to share their gifts
Our Homeless that they are housed by the word of God and take the blessings they receive and use it to enrich themselves and their goals.
Our Enemies that they come to know the true love of God and follow it and by doing so become blessed.

My Confessions

My pastor, Pastor Gregory Dickow of Life Changers Church(http://changinglives.org) teaches an excellent way to use your power that is instilled in you from God as a Christian. Many of us, just don't know or don't use our God given powers in our lives and we live in sadness and despair. By reading the word of God and confessing it in faith you can change anything in your life. "For verily I say unto you, that whoesover shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,...he shall have whatsoever he saith." Mark 11:23

These are scriptural based and come right from the promises of the Bible.

My favorite, the daily confession, helps to ease my mind and start my day knowing that through Christ anything is possible. Below I have copied it for you to see.

I declare today that I will not be defeated, discouraged, depressed or disappointed today.
I am the head, I have insight, I have wisdom, I have ideas, I have authority.
I exercise my authority today with my words and I decree a thing and it is so.

I expect and receive favor in my home, favor in my job, favor in my business, favor in my ministry, favor with my finances, favor in every deal I am involved in…
I have the wisdom of God today. I will think the right thoughts, say the right words and make the right decisions in every situation I face today.
My mouth speaks wisdom and my heart is filled with understanding. (Psalm 49:3)

Wisdom and understanding are better that silver and gold and nothing I desire can compare with them; therefore, I make it my ambition and desire to have understanding and wisdom; therefore I know I will have all of the other desires of my heart. (Proverbs 8:10-11)
My words go before me in securing my divine health and healing…
I will not be sick today; I will not be sad today; I will not be broke today; I will not be confused today.
I have health today; I have joy today; I have all the money I need in the name of Jesus.
My steps are ordered by the Lord… (Psalm 37:23)
I have a covenant with God and by the blood of Jesus I release my divine protection and divine provision.
My angels are carrying out the Word of God on my behalf…
I receive supernatural strength and encouragement from God and my angels. Angels carry out the Word of God and every word that I speak that lines up with the Word of God is being carried out by angels, even now as I speak. (Psalm 103:20)
I expect to have divine appointments today, to run into the right people, and to be delivered from the wrong people.
Any adversity, attack, accidents and tragedies that were headed my way are diverted right now in Jesus’ name.
I speak to the raging waters in my life: Peace, be still.
I say to my emotions, peace, be still.
I say to my mind, peace, be still.
I say to my body, peace, be still.
I say to my home, peace, be still.
I say to my family, peace, be still.
Now I speak to:
every mountain of fearevery mountain of discouragement every mountain of stress every mountain of depression every mountain of lack and insufficiency
And I say, "Be removed and cast into the sea in Jesus name!" (Mark 11:23)
I expect the best day of my life spiritually, emotionally, relationally and financially today in Jesus name!

The Doormat

I have been having a hard time accepting my sister-in-law's prescence around the house. She's older then me and my husband so I guess she thinks that she doesn't have to follow any rules or ask for anything of ours that she uses. She's even left her daughter for me to take care of while she's at work without even asking. I have been allowing myself to become worked up about this.

"God, I know I have to be nice and giving and loving but do I also have to be a doormat?" I would often ask in my frustration.

This has been going on for about 3 months until this morning while I was doing my Bible study I came across 2nd Corinthians 6:4-10

"but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, in beatings, in prisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger, in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death, as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things. "

I saw that scripture as God's answer to me. So what if I am a doormat! I am blessed because I serve. By serving others I serve God. Should I complain? For all God has done for me, dealing with others and becoming a doormat is the least I could do. After all, He gave His life for men( and women) that hated him, used him and still to this day blaspheme and don't believe Him. If Christ would have walked away screaming, "I will not be a doormat to these people!", we would have all been in trouble.

Give Glory to God!

The Feminine Side of His Image

I do believe that God is a man. Many women activists may disagree but I believe the Bible clearly shows that the sex of God is male. In the very beginning, Genesis 3:16, God placed man over women. It is also shown in the new testament, Ephesians 5:22-23, and 1 Peter 3:7, that women are the "weaker vessel." But we are loved and cherished by God and men are ordered to do the same. Since men are commanded to be the head over the women then God, who is head over all, must be a man.

But, I also believe God has a feminine side and out of the feminine side of His image came women. The feminine side of God is the Holy spirit also known as the Holy ghost. According to Hugs for Women: Stories, Sayings, and Scriptures to Encourage and Inspire by Mary Hollingsworth, Holy Spirit is a feminine word in Hebrew. If you think about it, the Holy spirit is what many women are. The Holy Spirit is the one that comes in and effects your emotions, gets you excited and makes you want to shout out for God or fills you up with tears when you realize all that God has done for you. There are many examples of this in the Bible such as Luke 10:21,

" At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure."Also in Acts 13:52
"And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit."

It is also the Holy Spirit that comforts you when you feel alone or lost.(Romans 5:5) Just like a woman. We are the comforters, we are more emotionally driven then men. The Holy Spirit is also powerful. Like women, the Holy Spirit should be greatly respected for its inner peace and quiet but shockingly awesome power. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."Acts 1:8 Power like, having a career, volunteering at church and still taking care of your family. Power like, giving birth and filling a nation. Power like, being at the brink of disaster but knowing that your and your family will be okay. Power like, smiling at the future despite the present.

The Thoughts Check In

The key to defeating sin, the key to mutilating the flesh is in your mind. So many Christians run away from God because they feel that they just can't stop sinning. They give up and don't take their opportunity to make a difference in the world. They allow their flesh to win.

" For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so." Romans 8:4-7

I believe the first thing to do when struggling with sin is to change your thoughts. Stop saying with your mouth, God will give me strength while thinking how can I make it today? The more your mind thinks the opposite the more your flesh will gain control. For an example, a wife who loves her husband and respects her husband outwardly but fantasize about sneaking away with the guy next door. How long do you think it will take before she allows her thoughts to take over?

When experiencing a thought in direct conflict with God's word; a thought that is not of the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) stop it! Ask all your thoughts to check in at your spiritual hotel (your mind) and if it is not a thought of the spirit kick it out. Stop it, before it can grow. Don't reason with it, or challenge it, or ask about it, just kick it! Kick it out of your mind and away from you before it can grow and get out of hand.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.Philippiansns 4:8

My Uphill battle

Someone's prescence has always been what I needed around me at all times. I hated to be alone. I loved God and knew He was there but I still felt like I needed to feel someone there, I needed someone to hold me and actually tell me that it was okay. I needed this so much, that that was the main reason for my marriage, so I could always have someone around me.

Well as you propably predicted that wasn't always the case. I had problems the first couple years of my marriage because I wanted my husband to always be around me. Talk to me, read with me, lay next to me, coddle me, hug me, be with me! You know that drove him crazy. and there were fights. I felt an empty pit in my stomach everytime he would leave. He eventually got so sick of me he would leave for hours and hours. Sometimes he would only come back to greet me and that was it. I was so miserable, I covered myself in depression and despair.

I would pray and go to church and I would always hear, God is with you. You don't need anyone else but Him. But it didn't sink in properly. I would read the Bible but I always felt so cold. Then one day I let go. I said, "God you are here and that's all that matters! You love me and that's all that matters!" I said it with conviction and faith. I stop listening to the flesh tell me, yes He's here but He's so far away... I started listening to the Holy spirit. When I read the Bible I evisioned God talking right to me. I thanked Him and praised Him for being there with me. I truly believed He was first in my life and nothing else matters. I immediately felt His prescence, I felt His arms wrapped lovingly around me.

Today, I can't say that I sometimes don't feel bad when my husband leaves or my children is gone with their grandparents. But the feeling doesn't last long because I stop and lift my Father up in praise and I talk to Him and know that He is there always.

The book, Stop Dating the Church! Fall in Love with the Family of God. http://www.wtsbooks.com/1590523652.html Is a great read for anyone who has not found their nitch in the House of God. It is harder for someone who attends a large church to really find their place but it can be done.

I attend a large church and at first I was the one who was a "casual dater". I would arrive on Sunday listen to the sermon, throw a few smiles occcasionally and leave. That was it, that was what I contributed to my family. Until one day when I noticed a woman who seemed tired and overwhelmed by her children. She was young, like me, and she seemed lost. I could've threw another smile her way and kept going, but instead I approached her. I complimented her on her children and told her about mine. I told her that God loved her and I did too. She became so excited. She told me how she just became a Christian and had to do away with her old friends who didn't support her new life. She had just prayed that God would find her a friend. We are still good friends to this day. You never know who you will touch if you just take part and reach out.
Is there a ministry you can join? That's also a wonderful way to contribute. Find you talents and what you enjoy and put them to use for the glory of God. Start a personal Bible study and invite others to your home. God loves the church! That is His home and ours, and we should stop treating it like a one night stand, but as a closely knit marriage.

Our Healer

In this world of over the counter, prescription, hollistic, and natural medicines people tend to forget the potent and effective medicine of all. God! There are many promises of scripture that shows that God loves us and wants us healed! Just a few, Psalm 103:3, Isaiah 53:5, and 1Peter 2:24.
Christians do know this but tend to forget it especially when they feel what's ailing them is minor. A constant headache is most often masked with asprin that can deterioate the stomach, or Ibuprofen that slowly damages the liver. With doctor visits becoming more financially outrageous and insurance premiums on the rise, people still feel the need to run to their doctor first.

I am not condemning doctors or saying Christians should never take medicine but I believe if we turn to God first, we would find that the use of medicines and doctors are unecessary. If we turn to God with faith and believe in His power to heal us, we will realize that nothing is stronger or better . I also believe that God will speak to you and guide you to what you need to do for a sickness. I was reading Tammy Faye's (a famous christian actress aflicted with cancer) website, http://tammyfaye.com, and she was talking about how she seeks the Lord for her healing and seeks chemotherapy when He deems it necessary. She also stops chemotherapy(without her doctor's full consent) and that has actually helped her and prevented some serious consequences of too much radiation in her body. I know that God gives doctors their knowledge and He helps to create medicines for us but I believe tha t God wants us to seek Him before we seek anything or anyone else.

In 2nd Chronicles 16:12-13 we find King Asa who found consequences for not seeking out the Lord first in his trials of healing (amongst other things in his reign.), " In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though his disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the LORD, but only from the physicians. Then in the forty-first year of his reign Asa died and rested with his fathers." It's not that he was punished for seeking out physicians it's that he did not seek help from the Lord. He didn't believe in the power that God had. Because if he did, he would've went to Him first.

Not Fair?

On July 17th I read a Chicago Tribune opinion article about the acquittal of former Healthsouth CEO Richard Scrushy and how the writer Robert S. McElvaine believed that he got a free pass for being a Christian man in front of a southern jury. He writes, " The perversion of Christianity reduces Jesus to a get-out-of-jail-free card." He also continues to talk about how it isn't fair that all your wrongs are wiped away as long as you believe in Jesus Christ. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-0507170454jul17,1,4979417.story When reading this article it reminded me of the parable Jesus spoke on in Matthew 20. Let's look there...

1"For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard. 2He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3"About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4He told them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.' 5So they went.
"He went out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour and did the same thing. 6About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, 'Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'
7" 'Because no one has hired us,' they answered. "He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard.'
8"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, 'Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'
9"The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius. 10So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12'These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, 'and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'
13"But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius? 14Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
16"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

This passage disturbs some Christians because they think that the landowner was not being fair. I believe that this is God's way with all of us. His love for us is equal, from the chaste Bible thumper to the wild sinner. Once that wild sinner comes back to Him, they have the same opportunity of salvation as any other. Just as Mr. McElvaine felt it wasn't fair that Richard Scrushy received a second chance, it obviously was in God's will, and if he truly repents from his sin then God will take him in and love him.

Now does that mean that we have a free pass from sin? I don't believe that we can pull the wool over God's eyes. If we are unrepentant in our heart then we will reap the punishments. God is our Father and he will punish us and teach us but He won't stop loving us and that's the most important thing.

Talk and Teach

My four year old daughter loves the care bears. If you don't know the care bears, they are cuddly cute pastel colored bears with smiley faces, rainbows and hearts adorning their stomachs. They reside in the sky until a child on earth is in trouble, then they come down to save them. I used to love care bears when I was a child.
Well, we were watching one of her many care bear dvds when she suddenly said, "mommy I'm going to pray that a care bear come and help me feel better."(She has a cold.) I suddenly became mortified! Not only was my child a heathen idol worshipper but she obviously have not been listening to her four years worth of Sunday school and bedtime Bible readings.
So what was my next move? Did I grab all her care bear movies and stuffed animals and toss them out of the window? Did I scream boycott the care bears! and ran to my computer so I can e-mail my church group?
No. I sat my daughter down and explained to her reality and fiction and how God is real and God is the one who live in the heavens. I talked to her about how Jesus promised to heal us with the stripes on His back. "No care bears will come and help you in your time of need, but God will."I said. She nodded her head and understood. That night, we prayed together for the healing of her cold and His blessings. We thanked God for all He has to offer us when we don't deserve it. I hoped that sunk in. If it didn't, I know I have more times to talk to her and guide her.
That incident had me thinking about how christians are against Harry Potter because of the magical elements. I think that if we as parents took the intiative to talk and teach our children what is right, fictional stories and movies such as Harry Potter wouldn't be such a threat. If we train our children in the way they should go instead of allowing the media, then we can be confident to know that they won't become devil worshippers at the sight of a children's books or cartoons. We can't lock them in the closet and burn every book or movie but we can teach them what is right and let God do the rest.
Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it."

My Search

I am at odds right now on what to do about my job search. I am working on my struggle with patience and I believe that God has a big plan for me but the wait is mind boggling. It's not like I have a lack of faith, because I believe I have received all I have asked for, but I just would like for it to be evident soon. My husband is hounding me about a job and money is tight. I am not worried about money because I know God has always come through for us and will continue but I am getting antsy about just having something more to do with myself. I also don't know whether I should stop sending out resumes and just wait for God to send something my way. It took me 6 years to finish college. After marriage and four kids, I thought I would never get my degree. But I did it. I try and think about how far God has brought me and I wish that was all I need to make these impatient feelings disappear. But when I have them, like I do now, I pray and thank God for all I have already and all that I will have. I also try and quote scripture to battle my inner struggles with patience. Like Psalm 40:1-2 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Also Romans 12:12, Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. May I not let my joy be stolen today, my affliction overwhelm me or keep me from giving up my requests before God.

Religious/Religion/Relationship

Am I a religious person? I don't think so. I don't like the connotations that go with "being religious" or "having religion" I don't think that Jesus wanted us to be religious or have religion but to have a relationship with Him and His Father. I have a relationship with Christ. I sit at His feet and listen to His words. I love Him and worship Him. I believe in all He has to offer so I anxiously want to share Him with others. I am not portraying myself as perfect and don't expect other christians to be. God knows we will make mistakes, if He didn't, then He never would have sent His son to give His life. He never would be the forgiving, loving God that He is. I believe the pharisees were what many "devout religious people" are today. They scrutinize and examine with their holy magnifying glasses trying to find every possible thing wrong with other christians. They try to make others forget that God is a loving, forgiving God and instead of passing out His promises they pass out guilt and condemnation. Jesus describes this perfectly in Matthew 15:8-9 after the pharisees accused their disciples for breaking the laws by not washing their hands. He quotes Isaiah by saying, " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." That's what I believe many of these religions come from, teachings made by the words of men instead of the words God. Satan uses condemnation to hold us back as christians and to make us feel guilty about not doing everything or following every letter in the Bible. I used to be that way, I used to feel so guilty thinking that the voice in my head that was telling me, "you didn't read enough of the Bible today, how can you witness to her or why do you call yourself a christian when you allowed yourself to get angry, you might as well be a sinner" was the voice of God. But according to the Word, we are set free from condemnation because of the love of Christ. We are loved so much that Jesus took all our condemnation and threw it away. "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1-2. Let's look up to our Father and our Big Brother and allow them to wrap their arms around us and love us so that we are healed from guilt . When we naturally live in the spirit and walk with the love of God within us, we will automatically do what we are supposed to do and habits and sin will fall away.

The Prayer That Changes Everything

I am currently finishing up an excellent book, The Prayer That Changes Everything: The Hidden Power of Praising God by Stormie Omartian (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/002-2702029-8064033) Oh how this book has opened up my eyes to praise and worship! It shows how giving God his well-deserved glory can sprout wings in your life. I always reserved praise for church and whenever I noticed an answer to my prayers or whenever I was saved from any kind of danger. I had to repent from this. I realized that everyday I wake up and look at my healthy children I should give God His praise. Even on those days I am upset and feeling tired, I should glorify God that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Even when there is nothing to do and nothing going on , I should thank God for just being. Not only has that book showed me how I should be praising God anyway, it also shows how praise and worship defeats demons in your life. How the last thing Satan wants you to do is praise God. Hallelujah! I exalt the one true living God, His son, and the ever watchful Holy Spirit on High. Let's all stop and praise God no matter what is going on in our lives. Bow down, sacrifice, raise your voice, lift your hands and free yourself.

May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you. Psalm 67:3

The GREATEST commandment

If you noticed about me, I tend to bring up the same subject in most of my posts which is love. I feel that this is most commonly known but not emphasized between each other. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God and for us to love one another. That is the greatest commandment! Think about that for a moment. Out of all the commandments in the Bible, God wants you to love Him and to reach out to your neighbor despite his or her beliefs. Despite his or her politics. God loved all of us so much that He sent His son to die for our sins. So why are we constantly at odds with each other? Why can't we tell someone, hey God loves you and I love you and He wants you to accept Christ instead of, you are wrong and I am right and when you believe what I believe then I can be your friend. When we come before Him on judgement day will He ask us what political party were we for? Will he ask us who did we vote for in the last election? I know that this may sound basic but it's so important that we get this. Many like to find other scriptures in the Bible and base their actions on them. But no other commandment was said to be the greatest commandment but the commandment of love. All of God's promises to us are based on love. Praise God He loves us and continue to love us despite our many failings. So many are wasting their talents on debates and meaningless things. Use your talent to reach out to someone today and tell them about the overflow of love that they can receive from God and from you. Matthew 22:35-40

Why always go to the ghetto?

I used to attend a small church in Memphis. The ministers had vans and they would go to poor urban neighborhoods (the ghettos) of Memphis to win over lost souls. I used to always wonder why they never felt the need to venture to more well to do neighborhoods in Tennessee such as Cordova (which wasn't too far from Memphis) Why do most churches feel they only need to go to the poor neighborhoods to spread the news about Christ? I don't think money gives anyone an extra edge to christianity. Now that I am in Illinois, I see the same things. There are more people reaching out to non-christians in Chicago then the many northern suburbs. God doesn't look at status or race but that we are all His lost children. I am not saying that poor people don't need Jesus, we all do. But I know more people in the poorer neighborhoods pray and go to church then the ones who have more money and take life for granted. Remember Jesus telling that rich man to sell all his possessions and follow Him? He wouldn't do it, because he valued his possessions more. "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'I tell you the truth, it is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.'" Matthew 19:23 NIV So let's go out and witness to all souls about the good news of Christ.
